ChinaMed Cough Clear 2 Formula 78c

This is a modern empirical formula that has been designed to treat acute bronchitis. In TCM this is Phlegm-Heat obstruction of the Lung. Generally this condition arises as a consequence of an acute upper respiratory infection, i.e. Wind attack on the Exterior (either Wind-Cold, Wind-Heat or a combination of the two). The illness progresses rapidly to involve the Lung, leading to the development of acute bronchitis.

When the pathogens enter the Lung they transform into Heat and obstruct the Lung Qi dynamic, resulting in the development of Phlegm with cough and dyspnea. Thus the syndrome of Phlegm-Heat obstructing the Lung manifests with a productive cough and yellow sputum.

In terms of strength of action, this is a more powerful formula than COUGH CLEAR Formula (CM149), above, with a concentrated focus on the pathology within the Lung. Thus it is designed to treat bronchitis without the presence of any URTI.
